This Privacy Policy explains how Velox AI Input, a macOS application developed by Wuhu Manxiu Technology Co., Ltd. (“we”, “us”, or “our”), handles information when you use the Velox AI Input app (“Velox” or the “App”). We designed Velox with a privacy‑first approach and aim to keep data processing on your device whenever possible.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Velox AI Input macOS application distributed through the Apple App Store. It does not apply to any websites, services, or applications operated by third parties, including the external API providers you choose to connect to through Velox.
2. No User Accounts
Velox does not require you to create an account with us, and we do not operate a user login system for the App. Your use of Velox is associated with your Apple ID only for the purposes of purchasing and downloading the App via the App Store.
3. Information We Handle
3.1 Audio Data
When you use Velox to dictate, the App records audio from your microphone locally on your device in order to send it to the speech‑to‑text service that you have configured (for example, a Whisper‑compatible STT API endpoint).
We handle audio as follows:
- Audio is stored temporarily in a file within the app’s sandbox on your Mac.
- After processing is complete (or if the operation is cancelled), Velox deletes the temporary audio file.
- Audio is transmitted only to the third‑party provider you configure in Velox settings.
- Velox does not send your audio to any server controlled by us.
3.2 Text Data
Velox sends your dictated content and intermediate text to the third‑party providers you choose for speech recognition and optional text refinement. The resulting text is then pasted or presented back to you within your macOS environment.
On your device, Velox may keep a short local history of recent results for your convenience (for example, up to a limited number of recent entries). This history is stored in the app’s local storage (such as UserDefaults) and is not transmitted to us.
3.3 Clipboard Data
To protect your clipboard, Velox temporarily saves your existing clipboard contents (which may include text, images, file references, or other clipboard types), replaces the clipboard with generated text for pasting, and then restores your original clipboard after the paste operation completes.
- Clipboard contents are only stored in memory and in system clipboard buffers on your device.
- Velox does not upload clipboard contents to any server we control.
- Clipboard data may be implicitly exposed to third‑party apps into which you paste text, according to normal macOS behavior.
3.4 Application Context
To provide context‑aware behavior (for example, avoiding pasting into the wrong app), Velox may read limited metadata about the currently active application, such as:
- Application name;
- Bundle identifier;
- Window title and basic window role information.
This information is used locally to adjust how Velox behaves or how prompts are constructed for third‑party providers. It is not stored persistently by us and is not transmitted to any server we control, though it may be sent to the API provider you configured as part of the context for processing.
3.5 API Keys and Configuration
Velox allows you to enter your own API keys and endpoints for third‑party providers (for example, Whisper‑compatible STT services). These credentials are stored securely in the macOS Keychain whenever possible.
- We do not transmit your API keys to any server we control.
- Your API keys are used only from your device to authenticate with the third‑party services you configure.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
In the normal operation of Velox, we do not:
- Operate our own backend server for processing your audio or text;
- Collect analytics events about your usage of Velox on our own servers;
- Collect or store your personal contact information such as name, email, or address, except when you voluntarily contact us;
- Access your photo library, contacts, calendar, or other personal data categories outside the scope of microphone and Accessibility permissions.
5. Third-Party Services
When you use Velox, your audio and text data may be sent directly from your device to third‑party providers that you choose (for example, providers offering speech‑to‑text or text‑generation APIs). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies, which we do not control.
We encourage you to carefully review the privacy policies and data handling practices of any third‑party providers that you connect to Velox, especially with respect to data retention, model training, and logging of requests.
6. Permissions
6.1 Microphone
Velox requires microphone access to record your voice when you hold the activation key. You can revoke this permission at any time in macOS System Settings. If you revoke microphone access, Velox will not be able to capture audio or perform transcription.
6.2 Accessibility
Velox requests macOS Accessibility permission in order to simulate the standard paste keyboard shortcut (⌘V) and to detect the active application for focus‑aware behavior. If you revoke this permission, Velox may still transcribe audio but will not be able to paste automatically or provide certain focus‑aware protections.
7. Data Retention
On your device, Velox:
- Stores temporary audio files only for the duration of processing and deletes them afterwards;
- Stores a limited local history of recent text results to improve your workflow, which you can clear by removing the App and its associated preferences;
- Stores configuration and preferences (including API endpoints) in local app storage and the macOS Keychain.
We do not store a copy of your data on servers we control. Any retention of data by third‑party providers (such as storing logs, training models, or keeping transcripts) is governed by their own policies.
8. Children’s Privacy
Velox is not directed to children and is intended for general productivity use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate steps.
9. Data Security
We rely on macOS sandboxing, the Keychain, and standard security practices to help protect data processed by Velox on your device. However, no system or transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
The security of data transmitted to third‑party providers (for example, via HTTPS) also depends on those providers and on your local network environment.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Because we do not operate a user account system or maintain your content on our own servers, most control over your data rests with you, your device, and the third‑party providers you choose.
You can:
- Uninstall Velox from your Mac at any time;
- Revoke microphone and Accessibility permissions in macOS System Settings;
- Clear local data by removing the App and its associated preferences;
- Delete or rotate API keys in the third‑party provider dashboards you use;
- Exercise any data access, deletion, or restriction rights directly with those third‑party providers, where applicable.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in Velox, in applicable laws, or in platform requirements. When we do so, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If we make material changes, we may also provide an in‑app notice or any other method required by applicable law. Your continued use of Velox after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective will constitute your acknowledgment of the changes.
